Olympic Lifting Club![]() Olympic Lifting or Olympic Style Weightlifting contains two lifts. The "Snatch" and the "Clean & Jerk". Athletes train and compete to achieve their best/heaviest attempts in each of the lifts in kilograms. The two weights are then combined together for a "Total" score and then ranked among other lifters of the same weight class. There are three different age categories: Youth (18 years and under), Junior (20 years and under ), and Senior (21 years and older). Adults over the age of 35 years are eligible for Masters events. Our Action Weightlifting Club training is for both competitive and recreational weightlifters. The Club is coached by NCCP Weightlifting Certified, Chad Brandt. Chad has numerous years of weightlifting experience and has attended seminars taught by US National Team Members Greg Everett and Aimee Anaya. Coached training is scheduled for 2 days/week, and programming is done for the development of the entire team. 2011/2012 Team Training Schedule (as of December 2011): Membership to the Alberta Weightlifting Association is required for those individuals wishing to compete and is due each year starting April 1. As part of the AWA, lifters ranked 'Class 3' or higher are eligible for funding for out of Province and Team travel expenses. Action Conditioning is proud to be the training centre for Katrina Burton, the 2010 & 2011 Provincial Champion. She also holds the Provincial Records in that category for the Snatch (57kg) and the Total (126kg). Competition Calendar: |
